The Logo
It is based on my birthday, February 19, 1954, and the initials of my full name are JEGM - as you can see, the letters hide in the logo.
The logo has two semicircles at the center with a line that crosses both... this forms the sign of Pisces, and Pisces is ruled by Neptune (the fork at the center). Because February 19 is the cusp / division between Aquarius and Pisces, we have both influences. Therefore I include the broken lines on top, which represent Aquarius; the planet that rules Aquarius is Uranus, represented by a circle with a cross on top. At the top is God's eye.

I was born in the province of Melchor Muzquiz in the northern state of Coahuila, Mexico, on February 19, 1954. My parents were Don Roman Galan de la Pena and Dona Lucila Muzquiz Rodriguez. Rest in Peace.
It seems that love for painting runs in the genes of my family. I can say so because of the high number of relatives with this talent or tendency. It is evident that my genetic artistic heritage finds its expression through different media (painting, photo lab, poetry, crafts, etc.) as part of the process of self-identification and realization within the arts.
Basically I am a self-taught artist. I have been my own teacher for more than 20 years, discovering within the versatility of my style different trends of painting as Geometrical, Conceptual, Abstract, etc., and without having any preference I keep experimenting with all of them.
It is worth mentioning the ability to draw since childhood, where my most beloved subject was to create out of my imagination the facades of modern houses. Here the child architect who enjoys the pleasure to mold space through lines, angles and colors, which I interpret as the bridge to understand cubism. So it was geometry the science that helped me to create and develop my own style, and it was literature the art that increased the interpretation of my own hieroglyphics.
It was reading about the great modern painters that gave me the feeling of confidence, a feeling of belonging to a certain psychological sameness, a feeling of radical transition from centuries of traditional art. In other words, whatever I create in my own era is a legacy from their pioneer and profound vision.
It was during my high school days in the early 70's, while living in Monterrey, Mexico, when I began to read a lot of spiritual and didactic books, which increased my sensibility toward life and art. Then in 1975, I moved to Austin, Texas, where I became serious in expressing myself through the art of painting. Since then I have been living and working on my project, in cities such as: Monterrey, Mex.; Mexico City; Guanajuato, Mex.; San Antonio and Austin, Tx., USA.

It is this, my own truth, what induces my inspiration to rise myself to a more perfected one within the originality in the style-quality factor exalted in my works to the present day, where the same anxiety co-exist in the cyclic superiority and internal refinement that only future and practice can mature. This self-imposed goal is what my Will undertakes to fulfill more determined and complex works of art.
It is my wish to express the slow process of integration as explorer of my genetic art, where the symbols, colors, forms, time and space are primordial philosophies in this special cosmic language as Art is in itself, where universal matter is the alchemy, and the art instruments are the medium to invoke the Ecstasies to its own expression. Where the art-ascendant sphere demands perfection in the consecution of all art works, and where the transcendence of truth in its own mysticism is needed as the key for the artist, poet or philosopher to complete or execute the works to its superlative degree, within an historical context of the aesthetic science.

Art Statement
Art is like the Ekstasies of the Greeks — "staying outside and beyond the self," in other words "to become the Homo Artisticus."
Art is like the Ekstasies of the Greeks, in the sense of, "staying outside and beyond the self," in other words "to become the Homo Artisticus" who plays the mathematical order of creativity in its posthumous legacy of existence in the bubble of "Time".
Where the conjunction of present, past and future are synonyms of Eternity. Being this mysterious triad "the now", the ethereal muse of my inspiration and exaltation to the Truth that life carries within its own soul, and to that silent death who "lives within" in the physical nature of organic & inorganic matter.
Generating out of these polarities or complements, Life and Death… the scientific and mystical wisdom at the moment the Finitude of both worlds in its different stages…. Creation, Preservation, Decomposition and Disintegration is unveiled.
Being these biological, philosophical or theological symbols the convergence of axioms, theories, dogmas or faith in myself, therefore to my Art.
